A Love I Never Had is not the run-of-the-mill love story that one finds daily in bookstores.
This is the story of young adults finding physical attraction for one another in the 12th year
in high school, the last year before graduation. Susan - a beautiful, tall, shapely girl not having love
and affection in her home - felt it was not shown to her and was desperately needed, wanted. Donald,
a handsome young man an inch taller than Susan at 5'8", found more than enough love and affection from
his parents, and their strict way of thinking when dealing with premarital sex, becoming more common now
since the end of World War II. The last semester before the graduation of high school and the big event of the
prom dance, had an effect on Susan. She had doubts of Donald's love for her, since Donald was not
showing Susan the love she felt he should. She foolishly concocted with a good friend of her family to
have a young man escort her to the prom dance in the hope that Donald would show more of a physical interest
in her, so much did she want Donald to be in love with her. When Donald disappointed her and left the
prom as he came - alone, to pease one of the girls in his class - Mary, a smart girl who was a help to
all in the school. He had several dance then went home. The story continues with the happenings of
how eighteen years passed before they came together in marriage.
